00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:10.000
 Thank you for agreeing to complete a GFK Radio Listening Diary for our Official GFK Radio Ratings.

00:00:10.000 --> 00:00:16.000
 Your participation helps radio stations to provide improved programs and services to their listeners.

00:00:16.000 --> 00:00:21.000
 You can complete a diary if you listen to the radio a lot, a little or not at all.

00:00:21.000 --> 00:00:29.000
 You will have received a radio listening diary like this and a set of station stickers like this.

00:00:30.000 --> 00:00:38.000
 You will also find a series of information on your front cover that tells you when you are to start and complete your radio listening,

00:00:38.000 --> 00:00:42.000
 the name of your interviewer and when your diary will be returned.

00:00:42.000 --> 00:00:47.000
 Please make sure that every box along the bottom of the page has a number in it.

00:00:47.000 --> 00:00:52.000
 If it doesn't, please contact GFK using the 1800 number provided.

00:00:52.000 --> 00:00:59.000
 Please also make sure that your name appears in the section where it says this diary belongs to.

00:00:59.000 --> 00:01:02.000
 If it doesn't, then simply write your first name.

00:01:02.000 --> 00:01:09.000
 Every person that returns a completed radio listening diary goes into a draw to win a $1,000 cash prize.

00:01:09.000 --> 00:01:14.000
 This is our token of appreciation for your participation in the GFK Radio Ratings.

00:01:14.000 --> 00:01:17.000
 So let's set up your radio listening diary.

00:01:17.000 --> 00:01:20.000
 You will see on the front cover there is this flap.

00:01:20.000 --> 00:01:25.000
 This is where you place your station stickers for the stations that you listen to throughout the week.

00:01:25.000 --> 00:01:35.000
 Simply peel the station sticker off the sticker sheet and place it in the column, aligning the dot like so.

00:01:35.000 --> 00:01:42.000
 We then would like you to write the station name in the station box provided here.

00:01:42.000 --> 00:01:53.000
 Continue doing that for all of the stations that you listen to on a regular basis.

00:01:53.000 --> 00:01:59.000
 And if you happen to listen to any other stations in the week, just simply stick them on the column.

00:01:59.000 --> 00:02:11.000
 If you listen to more than seven stations during your listening week, please use the grid provided on page 26 that allows you to fill in the station details and listening record.

00:02:11.000 --> 00:02:15.000
 Now I'm going to show you how to complete your actual listening behaviour.

00:02:15.000 --> 00:02:20.000
 Open up the double page to the first day of the survey.

00:02:20.000 --> 00:02:30.000
 You will see that your listening day is broken across two pages, starting from midnight, going through morning, afternoon and concluding at midnight in the evening.

00:02:30.000 --> 00:02:36.000
 There are instructions listed on each page that will help you complete your radio listening diary.

00:02:36.000 --> 00:02:39.000
 The day is broken into quarter hour blocks.

00:02:39.000 --> 00:02:42.000
 So now I'm going to record my radio listening.

00:02:42.000 --> 00:02:46.000
 I started listening to station A at 6 a.m.

00:02:46.000 --> 00:02:51.000
 So I follow the column down for station A to the 6 a.m. quarter hour.

00:02:51.000 --> 00:02:53.000
 And I mark from 6 to 6:15.

00:02:53.000 --> 00:02:58.000
 I continued listening to station A till 7 a.m.

00:02:58.000 --> 00:03:00.000
 So I mark those four boxes.

00:03:00.000 --> 00:03:04.000
 I then indicate where I am when I listen to the radio.

00:03:04.000 --> 00:03:08.000
 I'm either at home, in my car, at work or elsewhere.

00:03:08.000 --> 00:03:12.000
 In this instance, I was at home.

00:03:12.000 --> 00:03:15.000
 And I was listening to my AM/FM radio.

00:03:15.000 --> 00:03:17.000
 So I mark AM/FM radio.

00:03:17.000 --> 00:03:31.000
 The other devices that you could be listening to is a DAB+ or digital radio, listening via your mobile phone, through your PC or tablet, using a smart speaker or other device that's not listed here.

00:03:31.000 --> 00:03:36.000
 We would also like to know if you're listening to the radio using your headphones.

00:03:36.000 --> 00:03:41.000
 And if you are using your headphones, we would ask you to mark across, like so.

00:03:45.000 --> 00:03:55.000
 Remembering that you only mark across in a quarter hour if you listen to that radio station for eight minutes or more during that 15 minute period.

00:03:55.000 --> 00:04:00.000
 Later in the day, I listen to station B from 3 to 3:30.

00:04:00.000 --> 00:04:09.000
 So following the column down to station B to 3, I mark the 15 minute blocks between 3:15 and 3:30.

00:04:09.000 --> 00:04:14.000
 In this instance, I was going for a walk, so I would mark elsewhere.

00:04:14.000 --> 00:04:19.000
 And I was using my mobile phone to listen to the radio via my headphones.

00:04:19.000 --> 00:04:28.000
 For the times where you did not listen to the radio, we ask that you mark them with a diagonal line from start to finish.

00:04:28.000 --> 00:04:32.000
 And I'm going to write no listening on that line.

00:04:32.000 --> 00:04:38.000
 You can write no listening or simply write NL.

00:04:38.000 --> 00:04:45.000
 Make sure that each period is clearly marked.

00:04:45.000 --> 00:04:53.000
 Please remember to place a cross for every 15 minutes that you have listened.

00:04:53.000 --> 00:04:57.000
 Indicate where you are when you are listening to the radio.

00:04:57.000 --> 00:05:00.000
 What device you're using to listen to the radio.

00:05:00.000 --> 00:05:03.000
 And if you used a headphone set to listen to the radio.

00:05:03.000 --> 00:05:10.000
 Remember, if there is a period of time across the day or a whole day where you did not listen to the radio,

00:05:10.000 --> 00:05:14.000
 please mark it with a line indicating the times where you weren't listening.

00:05:14.000 --> 00:05:25.000
 If you need further help with your radio listening diary, please call our 1800 number on 1800 725 490.

00:05:25.000 --> 00:05:28.000
 The number is marked clearly in your diary.

00:05:28.000 --> 00:05:32.000
 Page 23 is the final page of your radio listening diary.

00:05:32.000 --> 00:05:38.000
 You will be reminded of this with this note that tells you it's the last day of the survey period.

00:05:38.000 --> 00:05:43.000
 You will also have been instructed on how to return the radio diary to GFK.

00:05:43.000 --> 00:05:48.000
 During the survey week, we would also like you to complete our lifestyle questionnaire.

00:05:48.000 --> 00:05:52.000
 This is a series of questions running across these two pages,

00:05:52.000 --> 00:05:57.000
 which helps our radio stations understand their audiences more.

00:05:57.000 --> 00:06:01.000
 Please know that none of these results are shown at an individual level.

00:06:01.000 --> 00:06:03.000
 So your answers remain confidential.

00:06:03.000 --> 00:06:09.000
 I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you that all of your responses remain completely confidential.

00:06:09.000 --> 00:06:14.000
 And we are bound by the Australian privacy principles contained in the Privacy Act.

00:06:14.000 --> 00:06:26.000
 Please remember that at any time you have any questions, contact our friendly help desk staff on 1800 725 490.

00:06:26.000 --> 00:06:31.000
 Thank you again for agreeing to participate in the GFK radio ratings.
