'ello!

I've never grown tired of the sound of FC, i've been listening in ever since buying the mini-CD of 'Dream Kitchen' on it's release. Since then the wonderful 'Sue' and 'Ray' have kept me company, and are always close to hand for a spin.

After the 'Ray' stuff died down i sort of lost touch with FC's music, and wasn't even aware of 'Wide Awake' until very recently. It's now on order (used) from Amazon :)

If Tim visits here again, i'd like to thank him for some really great tunes and some truly beautiful lyrics.
Cheers Bud!

Riding the ferry to work with Spoonhead in ear, matches the fog moving in. Great to still see FC activity, all 32 of us! Afraid I'm bit of a fossil fan as I go back to the 4ad sloppy heart single, was it 87-88? I bought in a clearance bin for 49 cents for the cover alone and have been enchanted ever since. My wife and I fell in love listening to Sue and have snagged everything since including Spunk. We listen still with the ounces of hope that Tim will pen again and record. His blend of chamber pop and hooks are simply the best. Sloppy Heart is one of the best love songs ever, no? And who can top his pithy yet sugar coated lyrics? If you are out there Tim, we're still tapping our toes and patiently waiting. We saw the Ray tour at Trees in Dallas, '91. Unbelievable show, met Tim and Kate with beer and discovered like my wife and I, he was a designer. Thanks for the music, it made a difference. /g

It's great to see the old singles reissued digitally. I've got quite a few of them on vinyl, but there's plenty of new stuff for me out there now too. I saw Frazier Chorus play the back room at the Union Chapel around the release of Wide Awake and it was one of the best gigs I've seen.

For completists, there's another album to track down which hasn't been mentioned on this thread: Monkey Spunk was an official bootleg made up mainly of out-takes from the Wide Awake sessions.

FC were brilliant. I bought both Sue and Ray on cassette from a bargain bucket in Woolworths in the early to mid 90s. Now have both on CD, had to pay a fortune for Sue from a German website but hey I had to get it. Also have Wide Awake but not too enamoured with it. Always playing Sue and Ray even now!

Many thanks to Tomas for pointing out the iTunes info. I was looking around for info on FC and saw this blog. I wasted no time in getting over a dozen rarities not yet in my collection from iTunes. Who knows how many times I would have needed to buy the Alternative Sloppy Heart 12 inch until I got an accurate prerssing!

EMI have finally put everything by Frazier up on itunes now. Even impossible stuff, like the demo versions from cassette singles is there. I know since I contributed with a scan of the sleeve from the withdrawn Heaven 7" for them.

Loved Dream Kitchen and Typical. Saw F.C. at Shaw Theatre near London Euston in 1989 and they sounded superb live. Best wishes to all the band members. As ever, they never enjoyed the commercial rewards that their music deserved, but the memory never dies!

just sitting in my house here in dallas texas listening to "sue" and thought I'd check the web for any updates on f.c.
I worked for "details" magazine in new york for years, and when I was there f.c. was one of the office's favorite bands. an editor at the magazine turned me on to them and I was hooked and spread the word. as I can see today, the music holds up very well. given what I see is a challenge to find these cd's now, I'm happy that I bought and kept them all. so nice to get reacquainted with such a distinctive sound. would love for any member of the band to give us all on update on where they are and what they're doing...

Did I just see that THE Tim Freeman left a post? I was one of the lucky ones to buy a copy (CD) of Sue and Ray while living in Japan and then Wide Awake stateside. Also have the the Cloud 8 mixes and one other that has a rooster on the cover. Frazier has to be one of my all time favorite bands. One of my great friends (Dan Cassidy) mused that they were the thinking man's Erasure. Every person to which I have introduced them have scoured the tubes to find used copies. I do hope that the post above is correct and old and new fans alike can enjoy these gems.

sue is a great album..they went on to make a couple more though.."ray" (blue cover dolphins on the front) which was also very good, it had their- i think- 'biggest' commercial songs 'nothing' and 'cloud 8' on it.. and then a few years later "wide awake" not so good..lots of stuff about having a baby. The album 'ray' had the remix things on, which don't quite work...i recommend downloading ray as well though if they have it..heather

I actually still have some Frazier Chorus on 12" vinyl here in Greece awaiting transfer to mp3 or something when I get round to doing all of that. They did make some singles after 'Sue' as well, produced or re-jigged or something by Paul Oakenfold when Virgin/EMI were trying to make them indie-dance-pop rather than fey-innefectual-pop. I really liked them at the time.
