Radio at the Edge – just around the corner

I’ve just proof-read the programme for Radio at the Edge. It’s the conference from the Radio Academy, that I’m chairing, and it’s on November 10th. You – yes you, blog reader – are welcome. Indeed, invited.
Just confirmed – Fi Glover (one of my personal broadcasting heroes) will be chairing a session about ‘getting intimate with the audience’ – how you can get closer to your audience to make your audience figures better, or give you better news stories.
Great people, too, speaking in a session around music personalisation – from Sony BMG, last.fm, we7 and the BBC.
And we’ve even got a live podcast being recorded from Collings and Herrin. Which is on straight after Leo Laporte, who’ll be talking live from California, and being asked questions by Matt Honey and… you. If you’re in the audience.
There are some tickets left, so if you’re quick you can ensure you’re there too… the place to find them is http://www.radioattheedge.com/.

Dear Mr Chairman,
All sounds quite fascinating and bound to be of interest to many within radio. But THREE HUNDRED FUCKING QUID to be told by Andrew Collins why his off-mic shambolic podcasts are the future?
Talk about pricing yourselves out of the market. There are a great many people working in radio who are onto their third year without a pay rise and are more likely to be sacked than given one any time soon. Is this conference not for the likes of them?
