They just let some workers go due to poor sales. HD does not work anywhere near as advertised. I have one of the best HD receivers made and it is gathering dust due to the poor range severe drop outs and adjacent channel interference, it works very well in analog mode incidentally. I have heard that DAB is not exactly setting the world on fire on Europe either. Let's just skip this failed experiment and go back to analog and leave the digital to the computers where it belongs. Mark Ramsey is a fine columnist and knows what he is talking about. DAB is a fad. I’ve read Mark’s blog for a while now, and there’s a real danger of becoming a bit too hectoring (and goodness knows, I’m guilty of that too). It’s always useful to have a mirror put up in front of your own behaviour, and I’m certainly now thinking more carefully about the way I communicate the future of radio in public. Radio is actually in fine form, and yes there are risks, and we must face them and deal with them, but we’ve survived before and I’ve no doubt we’ll adapt and survive some more.
