And you’d be mostly correct.

It’s certainly bollocks — I’ve poured ‘em both ways (well, you would, given the chance, wouldn’t you?) and no bugger can tell the difference. But it’s been going on for so long now that the origins are lost, so we can’t really tell anymore whether it’s the 30s equivalent of the red-braces people.

Pouring it in one shot, mind, doesn’t actually save any time. Thing still takes two minutes to turn a solid black either way.
