Bob Geldof and a Guinness

Posted on Tuesday, September 1st, 2009 at 2:33pm. #

Rather a nice idea – Guinness are celebrating their 250th anniversary with a rather nice new TV ad which goes live tonight (not poncy, just quite heart-warming and pleasant), and they’ve also got a set of celebs to say how much they like a drop of the black stuff.

Above is my favourite of the bunch: Bob Geldof being charismatically cheery about the drink, and looking as if he really does drink the stuff.

And below, Tom Jones – alluding to a special music event on 24th September, and pretending to drink his pint. That’s not drinking, Tom, that’s not even sipping.

It’s all for charity, too – the brewer has just announced the Arthur Guinness fund.

Guinness is the luckiest brand on the planet – what other company has an entire day, celebrated internationally, to the purchasing and consumption of their product?

My only question is: why do they need another?
