Add a UK flag to your website

Union flag

Websites were invented by a Brit: that nice Tim Berners-Lee. And British people are continually innovating – from the clever crowd at moo.com, gigulate.com and dopplr.com, to the world’s biggest broadcaster, or the world’s best newspaper. Our little island is continually punching above its weight when it comes to the web. And we should be proud of that.

Look at the bottom-right of Absolute Radio‘s website, and you’ll see a union flag displays proudly at the bottom of its website. Pret A Manger, too, has a little UK flag at the bottom of its website. Naturally, my website, and Media UK, sport one too.

I wonder how we can encourage more people to do this? Perhaps it’s time for a little website with code snippets to make it really easy for everyone? Hmm…

(I’ve blogged about this before, in case this seems familiar).

Later…

10.00pm: Thanks to the folks at Gigulate, who’ve added a flag! And also thanks to Mark Barnes who’s been much more creative with his: very cool!

Couldn’t agree more James. That’s why I’ve just added the UK flag to the bottom of every Gigulate page. Hurrah!

I love this idea. Will add a flag to mine. And hum Land of Hope and Glory while I do it. :-D
