A whole world of Worlds all under one roof

Food World, central London

Garlic World, Wig World, Monkey World, Masala World, Bargain World and Accessories World – across the globe there are hundreds of businesses, named by people who go through this complex thought process:

1. What do we sell?
2. Let’s put the word “World” after it.

For a long while, I, and other people on the fabulous photo service Flickr, have been cataloging these across the world. It would seem that whether you’re in New Zealand or Mumbai, San Francisco or New York, Whetstone or Wood Green – wherever you are in the world, you’ll find a World.

If you’ve nothing better to do this lunchtime, you might like to take a look – and enjoy “World World” for yourself. It’s a whole world of Worlds all under one roof.

(And if you spot any more – snap ‘em and stick ‘em into the World World pool.)
