Actually, I wouldn't mind tinkering with presence/status synchronization as part of some relatively weird XMPP stuff I've been looking into recently.

I've probably got a few friends and others I know who'd be in to taking on this project, and running with Alistair's code, too.

I've registered a few domains for a couple of ideas I had about birthdays and synchronising just-enough contact data, but unfortunately I don't have the elite coding skillz required. Can anyone else help? :)

(There could be a whole new website in this ... findacoder.com or something!)

I created a posting application for myself that updates Twitter, Facebook, Jaiku and now Pownce. The problem is that to make it in to a usable application for others on the net, and then to support that application all takes time, and sadly it is time I do not have. :-(

If someone wants to take on the challenge then I am happy to help out by supplying much of the back end code, just not much time. ( http://www.agm.me.uk/contact if you are interested ).
