Don’t know if anyone else remembers, but the logo for the Candidate City bid was actually the result of a ‘Design a Logo’ competition launched by Barbara Cassani back in 2003. They had over 1,000 entries and (I believe) the prize for the winner was £10,000. Kino Design were the company that did it and you can see more of their work here: http://www.kinodesign.co.uk/

In fact, they’ve already done some building-wrapping with the old logo: City Hall, last year.

Looking at the nu-rave stylings of the launch video, it looks like they’ll be able to do similar things with the new identity, but you’d have thought that using the colours of the Olympic rings might be a good idea for an Olympic brand identity.
